About the Owners of Texas Family Pet
Amy Black grew up all over the country in a military family. Her travels have given her a sense of adventure and strong family values. She has lived in a number of different states and also spent some time in England. Amy began working in the vet industry in 2001 and is a former veterinary assistant. She has worked with all kinds of animals, including: cats, dogs, ferrets, turtles, exotic birds, pocket pets and more. Her pet sitting career began in 2005. She is very passionate about her work and has a huge heart for animals. Amy and her husband created their own Family Pet Sitting and Veterinary Care business in 2008. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Development and Nonprofit Management from the University of North Texas.
Dr. Kelly Black was raised on a farm in Oklahoma where he gained experience with a variety of animals. This is where he developed a true passion for helping animals. Dr. Black graduated with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University in 2001. Dr. Black has practiced in the North Dallas area since 2001 and is currently the Director of Distance Learning in Veterinary Technology at Cedar Valley College in Dallas. He has received many awards, including a “D” magazine recognition in 2004 for being on the “Best Vets in Dallas” list. He and his wife, Amy, currently reside in McKinney with their brood of rescues, which include four cats and two dogs.
